For Sebastián Porto the Grand Prix of Malaysia, disputed in the modern circuit of Sepang, didn`t had the emotion of a victory or a podium. However he must left Kula Lumpur with the cartainty of that was one of his best races in the World Championship of 250cc. The fourth position in a race won by ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto (Aprilia) with a Yamaha far away of the level showed by the Aprilias is a clear sample of the talent of the Argentinian.

The weekend started very well on friday with a third place in the first qualify session. However on saturday the Yamaha of the Sprinta Petronas team wasn`t at the level of the Aprilia. The evidence of this is the maxium speed of Porto with Yamaha (250,3 km/h) and of the poleman ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto with an Aprilia (259,1 km/h). Is to many difference in a circuit with two starights of 900 metres.

On sunday Porto showed that the experience of more than 100 races is very important. With all his inteligency and capacity he took the best of the Yamaha number 9. The race started so well for the winner of the Brazilian Grand Prix as bad for Marco Merlandri. While Porto jumped from the eighth to the fourth position is the first two laps, Melandri an engine problem put him fourteen at the end of the first lap. After only six minutes of race the Italian and leader in the championship was out leaving Nieto the chance of discount points in the fight for the crown 2002.

¨Fonsi¨ knew that this was the oprtunity and he must win, so quickly he took the leadership, followed by his teammate, Toni Elías (Aprilia), who has orders of doesn`t fight with Nieto. The third was Roberto Rolfo who was trying to pass Elías. In the second group were Porto, Franco Battaini (Aprilia) and Randy De Puniet (Aprilia).

The dispute for the fourth position between this three drivers was very hard until the fifteenth lap, when Porto decided to take care of his bike behind the italian and the french. In the last lap Porto tried everything to pass and in a fantastic meneuver he took the fourth place over Battaini and De Puniet. Another big demonstration of the talent of the man with more experience in the 250cc. championship.

This great perfonmance of ¨Sebas¨ contrast with his descent in the tournament from the fourth to the fifth position. This is because the new fourth is Toni Elías after finished second in Sepang.

After the race the winner said: ¨I¨ very happy. I took the pole, the fastest lap, the victory and Melandri quit the race. I would like to thank Toni the help, I know is not easy leave win another driver when you can do it. I hope go to Valencia fighting the champiosnship¨

With this fourth victory of the season, Nieto is 27 points behind Melandri when it rest two races in Phillip Island and Valencia.
