The Argentinian rider Sebastián Porto grabbed the victory number 100 for Arpilia in the 250cc World Championship at the Czech Republic Grand Prix after a hard and thrilling race that had French Randy de Puniet and standings leader, Daniel Pedrosa, in the podium line.

Porto`s victory in Brno circuit was almost unexpected on the end because of how the race was developped, with the arrival of rain on lap six and then again on lap 17, which completely changed the way of the competition.

The weekend for the winner Arpilia rider started very well with his sixth pole position of the season under the rainwater of the qualifying session. Besides Porto is the only one in the season that qulified always in the top three places.

The beggining of the race in the overcast sunday had Porto leading the field, but just for a moment, because Alex De Angelis took first place near followed by De Puniet and Porto. Behind the three Aprilia, both Honda riders Pedrosa and Hiroshi Aoyama completed top five positions.

On lap six was the first big change of the race. The drizzle appeared in some parts of the circuit which made believed to De Angelis and company the race would be stopped. But this thought was never present in the stewards or in Porto`s mind, who continued on his run back to the leadership while the rest all did was to watch.

By half-way through things would became more dificult for the Argentinian, who held the first place until lap 13th., when the tire ware in the back became more important.

In two laps Porto dropped to fourth and Pedrosa in the front with the fastest lap included, leaving the Aprilia contenders breathless. It seemes that the story of the German and British GP with Pedrosa's dominium was back.

However the Spaniard's time in the leading had a quick end in the moment the drizzle appeared for the second time and the leader repeated what De Angelis did ten laps before.

Porto using all his experience of 130 races didn`t wait for the red flag to show up and revived from the fourth place to the first position, once again followed by De Puniet.

With De Angelis in the floor and retired, Pedrosa kept the third place far away the leaders. His team manager, Alberto Puig, had no problem to show his anger with Pedrosa wondering why he stopped asking for the red flag.

"I needed this victory", stated Porto. "I'm really happy. I won a race with intelengy, not only with my experience. I knew how to use what I have. The engine of the Aprilia was to win and it answered very well", commented Sebas after the podium ceremony.

About what happened during the race with the rain, Porto expressed: "It was amazing, see how Pedrosa and De Puniet brake. My atention was in the stewards. I just move on, looking to sourprise and build a difference".

This third victory of Porto in the season leaves the Argentinian with 153 points, 43 points behind Pedrosa, leader in the championship with 199. De Puniet has 166 and still in second.
