Despite being knocked off the top spot in Wednesday’s Sepang test by Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa remains confident. After a busy second day, the Repsol Honda Team rider finished in second position.

Whereas Lorenzo posted a 2’00.282 lap time to go quicker than he had in the previous Sepang test of three weeks ago, Pedrosa was just short of four tenths adrift. However raw lap times are not worrying the latter, who spent much of today working on suspension settings.

“We were doing a lot of testing with Öhlins, so it was quite tough but so far we’re making good steps forward,” Pedrosa told motogp.com in a video interview. “Even though we had heavy rain yesterday the track is quite good now, so tonight we’ll be taking all of the data from the first two days to establish a plan for Thursday.”

Teammate Marc Márquez remained the rookie to beat, cementing fourth place ahead of seven-time premier class champion Valentino Rossi.

“It’s all going well at the moment,” he stated. “This morning we went out with the same setups as for the last test, trying many things and getting lots of information. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow, but I’m happy because we’re now working more with the bike; first it was with setup and then with electronics.”

For 2013, Márquez heads directly to a factory MotoGP™ squad as reigning Moto2™ world champion, having claimed nine wins from 17 starts last season.
