Daniel Pedrosa celebrated his title in the World Championship in the 250 cc. Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP) by taking the victory in front of a crowd in the season close disputed today at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, where Toni Elías completed the Honda 1-2 and Randy de Puniet completed top three finishers as the best Aprilia.

The Spaniard rider iniciated the competition from the pole position, but lost the leadership in hands of Sebastián Porto until lap 11th, when the brand new champion re-took his leader condition.

"I really wanted to take a good result in Valencia. Last year I couldn`t race (broke both ankles in the end of 2003) but the people supported me in a difficult moment for me", commented the 19 years old driver.

About the race itself, Dani expressed: "The track didn`t had much grip and it was hard to be fast. Porto imposed a very quick rhythm, but when I passed him I could open a good gap, until he fall".

The 120000 people present in the circuit enjoyed of Pedrosa`s victory with the Honda in his championship celebration. The Spaniard achieved his seventh season victory and took revenge from his other home GP at Catalunya, when he lost in the race in front his people in a head to head finish line with French rider De Puniet.

During the weekend was confirmed that Pedrosa will test the Japanese MotoGP bike of Honda. "I must thank Honda that they let me do this test. It`s a great illusion, a privilege and I hope to enjoy it", he said.

Former rider Alberto Puig and team manager of Pedrosa, also mentioned his happiness: "Dani showed again he is the best rider in the category. It`s a great way of close the year".

Elías added another important podium with the second position, a good way of end for the Spaniard in a complicated season for him. Toni achieved this place after a hard and exciting battle with Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama in the last part of the race.

"It`s been a hard race and Aoyama has been a very difficult rival, but at the end, in the last laps I could passed him and made a gap over him", commented Elías.

The accident of Alex de Angelis in the beginning of the competition, made Elías to loose important time in the dispute for the leadership. "We had to elude him, which cost us precious time that we weren`t able to recover later, and allowed Pedrosa and Porto to get away", he explained.

"Finish the season with a podium is always a good result, although I would like to do it with a victory, but anyway I believe is valid, despite in the start of the year our target was very different", expressed Elías, who secure the fourth place in the final standings, but as he said, the championship was his goal.

When the race was over, Aoyama, third finisher in the track, was disqualified when his bike weighed 500g underneath the minimum weight limit.

"I feel bad for this. We had done a great race which I enjoyed a lot. I took advantage from the caos with De Angelis accident to put in the podium. The argued with Elías has been intense, I don`t remember how many times we passed each other, but in the end I had no grip in the rear tire and I secured third place", said Aoyama in the end of his first complete season in the World Championship.

With Aoyama out, De Puniet jumped to the last spot in the podium. The French needed a good result to finish the year after a very bad last part of the championship: before this race, the winner here in 2003, has scored 16 points from the last four races.

His victory at Catalunya wasn`t enough and mistakes like several falls at Motegi and Qatar put him out of the dispute for the title. However, despite his aim was the championship, De Puniet`s future might see him in MotoGP for next season, according to the French press.

The Argentinian rider left Valencia handless after a fall when he was running second. "I don`t know what happened. Maybe his charge failed. It`s a shame because we had the podium for sure and I wanted to close the year with a good result. However, I`m satisfied with what we done during the season and with the Sub-championship", commented Porto.
