Lorenzo’s quickest lap of Wednesday is one of the talking points this week, with the current world champion having moved inside the race lap record for the Sepang International Circuit; however that personal best effort was not as quick as the 2’00.100 that Pedrosa managed at the earlier Sepang test three weeks ago.
“This morning we were able to try out the wet weather setup,” the 2012 championship runner-up began. “It was only for a short time, but nevertheless we were able to put in some laps with it. In the afternoon, with the track dry and with slicks, we continued working on suspension settings. Overall, it's been a positive three days.”
Rookie Márquez – already grabbing headlines both in and out of his homeland – ends the week inside the top three.
“Today we’ve gathered a lot of information and done plenty of hard work,” the reigning Moto2™ Champion told motogp.com in an exclusive video interview. “We’ve worked particularly hard on the second and third days, in order to feel more confident and find out the effects of trying certain things, and I’ve done the most I could across the days.
“We’ve established a very good base and I’m happy with that. Now we need to see how it works at other types of circuits, like Austin and Jerez, so I can find out how they feel with this bike.”
Before the next and final official pre-season test in Jerez, the team will head to the United States for a private outing at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas.
