WEATHER CONDITIONS HAMPER ALICE TEAM RIDERS' PROGRESS
Qualifying practice to forget for the Alice Team riders, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, who didn't make it to use in the best way the Malaysian track when almost completely dry. During the morning a heavy shower wetted the circuit, but in the last minutes of the qualifying session the surface of the track was almost completely dry. Guintoli didn't make it to use the second soft tyre at his disposal passing on the finish line only a few second after the conclusion of the hour at his disposal, while Elias couldn't manage to find the right balance of the bike due to the quick changes of the track surface. The pair will have to use in the best way possible tomorrow morning warm up to improve theirs rhythm for the afternoon race.
Paolo Campinoti -- Alice Team Principal
"I am very sorry about today's results. We haven't been so lucky. Sylvain was going well, but while the rest of the riders improved in the last lap, he arrived just a few seconds too late on the finish line not being able to try the last attempt to improve. Toni will have to start really good tomorrow to gain as many position possible in the first lap due to his starting grid position. We expect maximum professionalism from both of our riders until the end of the season."
Sergio Verbena -- Sylvain Guintoli track engineer
"Today's position reflects the way we have been performing during the weekend. This afternoon it has been a strange session with the track that has completely dried out only in the last few minutes. We haven't been so lucky as we missed the opportunity to use the second set of soft tyres at our disposal only for a few seconds, but we have at least made it to improve our rhythm this morning. It will be anyway a hard race for us tomorrow."
Sylvain Guintoli -- Alice Team rider (16th best lap time in 2'04.378 -- Total laps 18)
"We didn't make it to use in the best way the soft tyres today. We arrived a few seconds too late on the finish line at the end of the session and I wasn't able to give the last try to improve my best lap time. It's a pity because the track was completely dry at that stage. I am very sad about it. I hope we will be more lucky in tomorrow's race."
Toni Elias -- Alice Team rider (19th best lap time in 2'05.120 -- Total laps 17)
"Tomorrow I will start from the last position and it will be a very hard race, but we don't have to give up. We will have to give our best since the first warm up lap to improve the situation. From my side I will do my best as I am sure all of my Team will do."
