First free practice on Aoyama's favourite track

The Motorcycle Grand Prix of Malaysia started today with the first free practice on the track, which is on of the favourites of Hiroshi Aoyama. The 28 year old could celebrate quite some successes on this track in the past and was looking forward to this event very much. But today the Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team lost a whole day of work as the bike with the set up of Motegi had some technical problems and they were not able to use this bike during today's session. There was no possibility to compare the different set ups of the bikes under these conditions and the work will start again tomorrow. Aoyama finished the first free practice on 14th place.

Hiroshi Aoyama, 14 -- 2'03.769:

"We wanted to try the Motegi Set up on this track and see how I can manage it here, but unfortunately the bike with the Motegi set up had some technical problems and I had to use the other bike with a different set up. We were not able to use the other bike during the whole session and I could not try Motegi's Set up, which I really liked and I wanted to see if it also works here. We have to start from Zero again tomorrow and lost a whole day of work and that is not good at all."
