Luthi pushing too much

The qualifying of the Gran Premio Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini was better than the free practice of yesterday, but regarding the second free practice of today it was a step backwards for Tom Luthi and the Interwetten Moriwaki Moto2 Team. Luthi finished the qualifying on 15th position, which is not really a good starting place for the 23 year old, who is currently third in the championship standings. The Swiss doesn't know himself what the problem is at the moment and needs to sit down with his team to analyse the data of today's session. The decision will be made afterwards in which direction the work of the warm up tomorrow morning will go.

Tom Luthi, 15 -- 1'40.101:
"Unfortunately we did not improve in the qualifying today, but I cannot say what the reason was. We have to talk and see the data of today; we just haven't had any time to do that yet. We went back to the base with the set up and used a similar set up like on race weekends, which I finished on the podium, but we weren't successful finding any solution for the problems yet. In the new Moto2 class the development is always going on and you cannot easily find out what will be next. We would need more time, but don't have any. We lost a whole practice yesterday and that isn't helping at all."

Terrell Thien, Team Manager:
"Tom really pushed very hard today, maybe a little bit too hard. We could improve regarding the practice of yesterday, but it was not enough. The 15th grid position is not really fantastic, but there were other races that he could fight back from a similar position. We have to see if we can solve some of the technical problems during the warm up tomorrow. The target to be with the front group is still realistic and I still believe that we can do it."
