The Italian Grand Prix has started. In the first free practice Canepa fourteenth and Kallio seventeenth
First our of practice at Mugello circuit for the MotoGP riders. Niccolo Canepa, Pramac Racing Rider, was in tenth position after half of the session with really interesting lap times, but a light bottomland made him slip losing bike one. The second bike didn't allow him to improve, as he had to start over the work of set up. The Italian concluded in fourteenth position. His teammate, Mika Kallio, has encountered some difficulties today without finding the right balance of his Ducati Desmosedici GP9 Sat. The Finnish will have to sensibly improve his best lap time tomorrow to conquer a good starting grid position for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix that will start at 2pm local time.
Fabiano Sterlacchini - Pramac Racing Technical Director
"Sometimes it happens to have a bad day and we cannot hide behind a wall. The weekend is still long and with Mika we can sensibly improve starting from tomorrow. Niccolo here is relaxed and serene, as he knows well the track. He has registered very interesting lap times and this is very good for us. A pity for the slip he had that slowed him down a lot, but I still see him well for the rest of the weekend."
Niccolo Canepa - Pramac Racing rider - 14th best lap time in 1'52.319
"The lap time I registered today at the beginning of the session, when I was in tenth position, I made it easily and this gives me a lot of trust for tomorrow and Sunday. I feel really well on the bike, the track is very nice. Too bad for the slip, I found a small bottomland and I lost the control of the bike. Nothing serious anyway. The second bike wasn't in the best condition and we used a lot of time to adjust it at the best, but without too much luck. Tomorrow we will be at the top."
Mika Kallio - Pramac Racing rider - 17th best lap time in 1'52.619
"For sure the worst beginning of the weekend for us. During my fourth lap I basically done the same lap time as the best one of the day and this show that we didn't find the right direction to follow. We have tried many solutions without finding the right one. Really difficult day, the bike during the turns doesn't seem to follow my intention and everything was too complicated. Tomorrow we will have to work hard to take a big step forward."
