SAN CARLO HONDA GRESINI TEAM GO BACK TO THE 'BRICKYARD'

The San Carlo Honda Gresini Team make their second trip across the Atlantic of the 2009 season as the MotoGP World Championship returns Stateside for the Indianapolis Grand Prix this weekend. Having already visited Laguna Seca in California just over a month ago, the series this time heads to the east of the USA and the world-famous 'Brickyard' circuit that also plays host to NASCAR and the Indy 500 races.

Toni Elias makes the journey on a wave of confidence following his first podium of the season in the last race at Brno. The Spaniard guided his factory-spec Honda RC212V to third place at the Czech circuit and he is looking to continue his run of good form at Indy, another circuit he believes will bring the best out of his machine and riding style. After consistently challenging for top eight finishes in the last few rounds Alex de Angelis is looking to continue his improving form on the satellite version RC212V and is hopeful of better luck after being bizarrely held up at Brno by a butterfly creeping into his helmet.

Both riders are keen for decidedly better weather than MotoGP's first visit to Indianapolis, when the city was hit by the effects of Hurricane Ike, forcing the race to be abandoned eight laps from the end. The circuit, which is located on the infield of the world famous oval that hosts the Indy 500, measures just over four kilometres and is an adaptation and reversal of the one used for Formula 1, which ran at Indy between 2000 and 2007. This year marks the centenary anniversary of competitive motorcycle racing at Indy, with the first two-wheeled event here having opened the circuit on 14th August 1909, after which Indianapolis was solely used for car racing up until last season.

#15 ALEX DE ANGELIS

"I felt we were unlucky not to come away from Brno with a better result because we were on the pace, I was well positioned in the race and got a butterfly inside my helmet -- which was incredibly unfortunate. Anyway, that is behind us now and we are looking to take the positives to Indy, which is a circuit with some fast and technical corners that I think can suit us. Last year we were definitely expecting a better result in wet conditions but unfortunately it took me a few laps to get my pace together. It is a shame the weather got so bad so quickly and the race was interrupted because I think I could have improved my position since I was catching the riders ahead of me. Anyway, I agreed with the decision taken by Race Direction because it was difficult and dangerous to ride out there. Hopefully this weekend we get better weather and better luck!"

#24 TONI ELIAS

"I said before the last race that Brno and Indianapolis would be good circuits for us and I have been proven right so far so hopefully I'm right again! The podium in the Czech Republic was a fantastic achievement for us but it has been frustrating for me that we haven't been able to show our potential before now. We want to break that top four up on a more regular basis and we know we are capable of it so that is the target from now to the end of the season. We have shown our speed, now we have to add consistency to the mix but if we can make a good start on Friday there is no reason why we can't close the gap even more. I love racing in America and Indianapolis is such a legendary motorsport venue. However, all that will mean nothing to me if we don't get a result."

FAUSTO GRESINI -- TEAM MANAGER

"Over the last few races we have seen our team progress in a positive manner and we want to keep this trend going for as long as possible. All the progress we have made over the summer months was proved at Brno, with Toni finishing on the podium. A great job is being done by the whole team and if we show the same desire and work ethic at Indianapolis then we can look forward to a great weekend. Indy is a spectacular venue with incredible history and we are all very excited to go back there. It is a very special race and we hope we can play our part."
