FIRST RUN-OUT AT PHILLIP ISLAND FOR RANDY DE PUNIET

After last week's three-day of testing in Malaysia, the majority of the premier class riders have moved onto Australian circuit of Phillip Island for another test session started today. The riders have enjoyed good conditions with a little wind and a temperature of 27.

The first day saw Edwards on the top of the timesheets with a best lap time of 1'29.566 on qualifiers whilst the LCR Honda MotoGP Team rider Randy De Puniet clocked a 1'31.436 lap on race tyres (11th). The Frenchman completed a marathon 103 laps aboard his Michelin-shod Honda RC212V as he worked hard with his team on suspension setting and tyres testing.

De Puniet: "When I came out this morning, after three laps only, I had the wrong feeling with the front and decided to work on suspension setting throughout the day. We focused our work on the front fork setting and race tyres testing aiming to find a better feeling for this track. We tested many things and I made 103 runs. At the end of the day the feeling was much better and we found the right way to proceed with our set-up work tomorrow".
