The riders of the Pramac Racing team after the hard work done in the three pre-season testing got back on the track for the first practice session of the year.
The MotoGp 2014 Championship officially started today at the Losail International Circuit. The circuit is located in the Qatar desert, about 30km from the capital city of Doha. The track s length is 5.38 Km with a total of 16 turns and a straight long 1068 meters. Since 2008, The MotoGP is scheduled at night under the floodlights powered by Pramac generators making the event even more spectacular.
Andrea Iannone - Pramac Racing - completed a total of 17 laps during the 45 minutes available . Andrea ended the free practice with a good fourth position , the first of the Ducati , and a great lap time of 1'55"996. The " Maniac Joe" used well the first free practice session using many of the set-up references of the last Qatar test . Only in the last run he tested the soft compound, not pushing it all the way because it never tried it before. The two test sessions of tomorrow will be done in order to learn more about the soft tire and continue the search for the best general setting .
Yonny Hernandez - Energy T.I. Pramac Racing – did not start in the best way the first practice session . Unfortunately on fifth lap he crashed, slamming his hand and shoulder on the ground, thankfully he doesn’t have fractures. Despite the crash at the start of the session the standings have him in fifteenth position.
Andrea Iannone ( Pramac Racing): "It 's been a very positive session for us. The bike worked very well, even though the track was more slippery than the test I immediately had a good feeling. I'm glad to be the first Ducati , and to give my contribution to improve the bike. The Ducati is now more competitive compared to other bikes, so now we can also have fun and we can think about doing something better. "
Yonny Hernandez (Energy T.I. Pramac Racing): "I was very scared , it was a nasty crash. On the straight before the last corner while I was at full-gas the bike wheeled slightly and when the front tire landed again is slipped away without me noticing it. I do not know how it happened! I feel lucky because I didn’t fracture or brake anything but I have a lot of pain in my the left hand and the right shoulder. "
