Strong Ranseder tenth in qualifying

Michael Ranseder will start his comeback in the 125cc world championship at the Sachsenring from tenth on the grid.

Under extremely difficult weather conditions the 23-year-old managed his best qualifying result in two years, placing his CBC Corse Aprilia in 1:41.341 minutes into the third row of the grid. "I am delighted about this result. Despite the bad weather, I felt great from the start and was able to convert it into a good lap time. My new team had prepared my Aprilia bike perfectly", Ranseder analysed.

The Austrian proved again to be quick in wet condititions and remained in the top five for long. Although heavy rain even flooded parts of the Sachsenring, Ranseder only lost 2.67 seconds on Julian Simon's pole time in his debut qualifying for CBC Corse.

Alongside Simon, Britain's Bradley Smith (both Aprilia), Marc Marquez (KTM) and Wildcard-ride Marcel Schrotter (GER, Honda) complete the first row. Consequently, Ranseder is positive for Sunday's race: "With a good start, a lot should be possible from the third row."
