Launch takes place with 96,000 people watching online
Ducati unveiled its all-new Desmosedici GP12 on which, factory riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden will campaign this year’s MotoGP championship in a world exclusive online presentation today. Rossi and Hayden joined with Ducati President Gabriele del Torchio and Technical Director Filippo Preziosi for the presentation that took place at the company headquarters in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, Italy.
Broadcast to 96,000 users logged onto Ducati sponsor TIM’s official Facebook page Rossi and Hayden both took some questions at the launch while standing aside their new machines that sport an Italian tricolore inspired paint scheme and moving away a little from the usual Ducati red.
Del Torchio then Preziosi also spoke at the hour-long presentation and the Technical Director spoke about some elements of the new 1000cc machine including that the GP12 will use the full capacity allowed under the new rules and that the manufacturer has not sacrificed the customary 90° V-angle engine in order to work with the new twin spar aluminum chassis.
Both Rossi and Hayden tweeted pictures from the launch and both appeared excited with their new machines that they will now take to Jerez this weekend with the MotoGP season set to get underway on 8th April in Qatar.
