Sebastián Porto finished second in the Grand Prix disputed in the Ceske Republiky. This is the best result of the Argentinian in the category of 250cc of the World Championship.
Porto had a good start of the season (with a fifth, two sevenths and two eighth places), the Argentinian had to quit in Cataluña. After that, the results finally came for him. In Holland he was fourth, in Donington he was the leader until he quit with mechanical problems, in Germany he arrived third and on last Sunday, in Brno, he overtook his best performance in the Continental Circus finishing second.
¨I`m very happy with my second podium and the second position in the race. It was really hard at the beginning to follow the Aprilia. I hope to keep in this line of results¨, said Porto in the press conference after the competition.
The start of the race showed the Yamaha of the Sprinta Petronas team leading for a few metres. ¨This was my best weekend in the eight years I am in the World Championship. I made a good start. I was in front in the first curve, but I knew that the race against the Aprilia will be very hard. Anyway this start confirm my confidence¨.
Sebastián analysed the best and the worst of his machine.¨It`s more competitive than in the beginning of the year. The chassis is perfect, we must keep working in the engine, but we are in the good road¨ manifested the Argentinian.
Porto was fifth in the first laps behind Rolfo, Melandri, Nieto and Elías. Sebastián fought all the race with Elías and he took advantage of the mistakes of ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto first and Rolfo three laps before the end. With this great result Porto is fifth in the championship, eight points behind the fourth, Elías and 33 behind the third, Rolfo.
The Yamaha driver didn`t forget to recognise the support of his family in the difficult moments. ¨I would like to thank to my father all his support who is responsible of this result today. Because when at the end of last year I didn`t have any option of keep in 250cc and I said to him ´Let`s go back to Argentina to race in Turismo Carretera...`, he answered that I must keep running motobikes, maybe if it wasn`t for that words, today I`ll be in my Rafaela competing in T.C.¨
Marco Melandri won his sixth consecutive race in Brno, seventh of the year over ten rounds disputed. Melandri took advantage of the mistakes of his rivals to win without problems another race of this season. The second in championship, ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto finished fourth after a mistake, while Rolfo quit the competition also due to a mistake when he was trying to pass Melandri.
