CZECH REPUBLIC GRAND PRIX - BRNO
ROUND 11: 18th to 20th of August, 2000

TEAM REPSOL YPF HONDA READY TO GO

After the Summer break, the Motorcycling World Championship continues this weekend with the Czech Republic Grand Prix, 11th round of the season, at the circuit of Brno. With only six races to go for the end of the championship, most teams have been testing in different scenarios in between the German Grand Prix held in late July and Brno. On the 10th and 11th of August, Team Repsol YPF Honda riders, Alex Crivillé and Sete Gibernau, had a go at the Italian circuit of Mugello. Okada, who still suffered pain from his two crashes at the Suzuka 8 Hours race, preferred to continue with a longer period of convalescence. With the Czech Republic Grand Prix on sight, 1999 World Champion Alex Crivillé was satisfied after testing at Mugello: "At Mugello we got many information valuable for Brno. Last year I had a beautiful battle to the end here with Okada finishing second... Brno¹s layout is good fun and very technical at the same time. It has all kinds of corners and it¹s very demanding both with the bike and with the rider. After this Summer break I¹m really looking forward to hop on the bike again and enjoy this next race". Sete Gibernau, who finished tenth at Brno in 1999, is also looking forward to this year¹s venue. "I¹ve been able to set a good race pace testing at Mugello and also understand the bike¹s behaviour much more. I like the circuit of Brno, although it¹s really tough for the rider who has to be in top form for the race distance. Also, it¹s very important to have a good suspension set up and a good geometry of the bike". For Okada, winner of this Grand Prix last year, round 11 could be the starting point of better results still. "I won here last year in a thrilling last lap encounter with Alex Crivillé. This is definetely my favourite track so it would also be a great chance for my first victory this season. I like long and fast corners in which exit speed is very important too because of all the long straights. I¹m fully recovered of my crashes at the Suzuka 8 Hours race and ready to do a good race at Brno
