British rider to campaign 2015 season on factory supported Honda
Just hours after Cal Crutchlow’s current employers, Ducati Corse, made a brief announcement that they had reached an agreement with the British rider to terminate his contract for the 2015 season, Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR outfit revealed that Crutchlow was to join the HRC supported outfit for next year.
Crutchlow (29) will enter his fifth year in the MotoGP class in 2015 and will receive a HRC factory spec 2015 RC213V close to what current championship leader Marc Marquez and teammate Dani Pedrosa are currently developing. LCR also announced that CWM forex trading would become the main sponsor for 2015.
Team boss and owner, Lucio Cecchinello was very upbeat about the move and is looking forward to working with Crutchlow but made no mention of current rider Stefan Bradl who hasn’t had a great season so far. Cecchinello said, “We want to thank Cal for his trust in our 2015 racing project and we are excited to line up with new Team colours thanks to the cooperation with CWM. In the mean time we will keep working hard to end the current season in the best way”.
The CEO of CWM Anthony Costantinou was also very happy with the announcement saying, “The 2015 MotoGP season is looking to be a very exciting one, CWM-LCR Honda are very happy and pleased to have Cal Crutchlow on our new bike and new team colours. Cal is a professional, reliable, and top performer as CWMFX.COM is. Perfect synergy”.
Crutchlow sits in 14th place in this year’s championship with the British rider unable to tame the unruly Ducati GP14 with Andrea Iannone now taking over those duties for next year. Bradl meanwhile has made no announcement on his plans for 2015.
