Loris Capirossi has been confirmed to continue on with the Ducati Marlboro Team for the 2007 season of FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP), the Italian team announced.
"I am very pleased to renew the agreement with Ducati. The collaboration that has tied me to them since the start of the project fills me with honour and pride. The fact that a satisfactory agreement for both parties has been reached well before the end of the championship is a demonstration of the unity and trust that has come about during the last four years", Capirossi commented.
After three and a half years together in the Continental Circus, Capirossi and Ducati have achieved five victories, four of them in the last 12 months, 11 visits to the podium and seven pole positions.
The 800cc new bike that Ducati put on track last week in Brno's collective MotoGP tests -- as one the two teams to publicly test a 2007-spec bike -- produced high hopes for the team and Capirossi himself.
Claudio Domenicali, Ducati Corse Managing Director and DMH Director of Product Development, commented: "We are satisfied that we have reached an agreement with Loris for the 2007 season: this allows us to look to the end of the season and to the future serenely and with great optimism".
"With his talent, his determination and his professionalism, Loris has had a fundamental role in the success of the Desmosedici project, which represents the cutting edge of the process of innovation and improvement of the competitiveness of Ducati", Dmenicali added.
So far this season, Capirossi is fifth in the standings with 151 points, 50 behind the leader Nicky Hayden.
