DE PUNIET OPENS DONIGNTON WEEK END WITH "DAY OF CHAMPIONS"

Randy de Puniet and his LCR Honda MotoGP Team arrived at cloudy Donington Park circuit in England this week end for the eight round of the season. The weather can be changeable at the 4.023 Km English circuit which is usually hit by some torrential rain but Thursday has been an exciting day for the British fans thanks to the "Days of Champions" which included a series of activities to raise money for Riders for Health, the official charity of the world championship.

Riding the Michelin-shod Honda RC212V De Puniet is determined to bounce back after disappointment in the race at Barcelona, and can rely on good experience at Donginton track where he has previously stood on the podium in 250cc class. The Frenchman met the English fans today at the "Riders for Health" Auction giving his leather, a pair of boots and about ten autographed T-shirts to help the charity.

De Puniet: "Donington's a very interesting track. It's very technical and the straight (564m) isn't very long. After the tests in Barcelona I'm more confident about this race as we've had very good results there and think we can be more competitive this weekend. In 2005 I won my 250cc race and last year I had the sixth place in MotoGP so I have good memories of this circuit. We will see how the weather can be... I am very happy to help "Riders for Health" and hope they can raise a lot of money for African people".
