In the evening, the Ducati Team announced that it will be taking part in the 2014 MotoGP World Championship with the two riders on GP14 bikes in Open configuration.
Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi set an identical lap time of 1’59.999.
Both Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow were able to continue important development work with their Desmosedici GP14 bikes.
Marquez’s lap time on the Repsol Honda RC213V was the quickest ever at Sepang and was set on the 2014 specification Bridgestone tyres.
The main results were that a lot of mileage was notched up on the new bike.
The MotoGP paddock will return to Sepang on February 26th for the second official test of the year.
Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo continued to work through a number of different test items.
Both riders completed almost 50 laps each on the GP14, and they were able to notice some improvement in corner entry.
