The argentinian Sebastián Porto finished third in the fifteen round of the 250cc. World Championship disputed in the circuit of Phillip Island, Australia. This is the fifth podium for Porto in the last seven races. With this result the driver of Yamaha shares the fourth place of the champiosnhip with the spanish ¨Toni¨ Elías, fifth in this race.

Like in the last week in Malaysia, when he passed Battaini (Aprilia) and De Puniet (Aprilia) in the last lap, Porto passed Roberto Rolfo (Honda) in the last metres of competition after a hard ight during the 25 laps of race.

¨Sebas¨, marked the third time in the qualify session of saturday, however in the start of the race he lost until the sixth position. But quickly Porto passed Locatelli (Aprilia) in the first part of the race. One more time he showed that the Yamaha was for challenge a position in the podium. Then was the turn of Rolfo and Elías. The spanish lost perfomance in his Aprilia due to a fall in the practice. He finished fifth far away of the fight for the podium.

¨The engine of my Yamaha was very good and the chassis too. It was a very hard race because of the wind and because the set up was to complicated. It costed me to much follow Rolfo. It was a terrible wear, but I waited until the end to pass him in the sector where I was faster. That how I am in the podium one more time. I`m already thnking in the next race¨, said ¨Sebas¨.

The fight for the victory, as for the championship, was a duel between the Aprilias of Marco Melandri and ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto. With uncountables changes of the leadership during the 25 laps of the Grand Prix, both offered a great show that left the italian as the youngest champion of the 250cc. World Championship with only 20 years.

Nieto tried everything to stop the victory of his rival, but it was impossible and the spanish must conform with the sub-championship.

¨It was a very hard race because of the conditions (wind). In the last lap `Fonsi` passed me and it was to difficult to take the leadership back. In the last lap I knew that I must win to take the championship here, we entered the two by the outside and I did it well. Now I` m the World Champion¨, finished the maxium winner in the season with eighth victories.

The last race will be in Valencia, Spain next November 3rd and Porto will try to get the fourth place in the championship.
