Yuki Takahashi on the second row in first qualifying at the Sachsenring

The first day of qualification for the Grand Prix of Germany, ended positively for Yuki Takahashi as he placed the Honda of JiR Team Scot on the second row of the grid. The Japanese racer wants to improve further, but that could be influenced by the possibility of unstable weather. Yuki has consistently increased his performance from tenth position in the morning, before reaching eighth in the afternoon: despite having a suspension setting that still requires more work tomorrow.

Gianni Berti - Technical Coordinator, JiR Team Scot

"This day of testing ended with a second row grid position, which is a good result, but one that impels us to do better. Yuki and the Team are able to achieve a better position here, as the Sachsenring circuit is a twisty circuit with many changes of direction, which should suit rider and machine. Tomorrow we will complete the programme of the development of the suspension settings and the Team will work hard to help us achieve a very good result, which we feel is within our grasp."

"Today ended with a second row slot on the first day of qualifications, but we are not completely satisfied because I wanted to get a better result. We must work hard, because on this track with many uphill and downhill sections I have not the necessary stability I want so we need to work on that and it's also important to focus then on our choice of tyres. The engine is well-developed although I know that we have room to improve, but for tomorrow the unknown factor is the weather, which in the case of rain could change things and perhaps make things more advantageous for us."

Yutaka Hirano - Chief Technical JiR Team Scot

"In qualification today we worked intensely and concentrated mainly on setting up the front suspension. Yuki has not yet reached the best feeling, so we have room for improvement and tomorrow we will have to continue in the correct direction that we have already identified. You must strike the right balance to verify the correct choice of tyres, while with the engine we have already reached a good compromise."
