Yuki Takahashi and JiR Team Scot fifth at Donington Park
On the first day of qualifying at Donington Park for the 250cc British GP - the eighth round of the season - Yuki Takahashi has secured the fifth best time. This is due to the hard work done by the team during the free practice in the morning and during the afternoon session, choosing both the race tyres and developing the chassis. The JiR Team Scot rider showed good progress and performance today and he hopes to improve on the second day of practice tomorrow, to make certain that he has the perfect configuration for the race and that he has a good rhythm for Sunday's event.
Gianni Berti - Technical Coordinator, JiR Team Scot "The team worked well today and found a good base setting for the chassis set-up and also for the tyres. Yuki is in good form and is quickly finding a good race rhythm I think that tomorrow morning we will be in the position to finalise things in time for the qualifying session in the afternoon so we can aim for the best lap-time possible. Here at Donington we have to realise an important result and I think that Yuki's team are motivated to reach this goal."

Best time: 5th - 1' 32.853"
"At the end of the day I did a good lap time but for me it was unbelievable as I thought that I was slower than that! I'm satisfied though, as fifth is important. Also if we consider the possibility of bad weather conditions, I still think we have the possibility to improve and I would like a better position on the grid. During the morning we tried some tyres and have chosen what we can use on Sunday for the race. The chassis setting is quite good but we have more work to do to get the best set-up. In the afternoon I dedicated my time to improve my race rhythm and I did also a long run of 12 laps. Generally I feel good on this circuit and although I have to improve my performance in the first part of the circuit, I think that tomorrow we can make more positive progress."
Yutaka Hirano - Chief Technician, JiR Team Scot
"Today we did some good work and we have a good base for qualifying tomorrow. We have made our choice for the tyres but to be honest we have worked more on the development of the chassis but this are only usual for this time of the race weekend. Yuki is moving forward with his race rhythm and tomorrow we have to work hard to improve this still further"
