ST JOHNS, PA. The modifieds had the weekend off, making room for the visiting ATQMRA midgets and ARTS trucks. Headlining the program was the 100 lap truck feature. Quaker Hill, CT, native Chris Correll ran a steady pace early on, then came on strong at the end to win the truck event at Pocono Mountain Speedway. Don Adams held swapped the lead with Jon Gambuti over the final laps, with Adams leading the way to the checkered for the midget win.
Scott Riggleman, the winner of the previous ARTS visit, led the field from starting on the pole. Shawn Parker followed Riggleman into 2nd from the inside of the second row. Jay King was 3rd, followed by Correll and Pete Yetman. Few cautions fell during the first half of the race, with Riggleman leading the way. King and Parker swapped spots, with Correll hanging on to 4th. Yetman and Ryan Pasacca had a great battle for the 5th spot, trading positions a couple times before Pasacca took control. The second half proved to be the most exciting for the fans. Riggleman lead the field, followed by King, Parker, Pasacca, and Correll at the halfway mark.
With about 30 to go, both Pasacca and Correll began their march forward. By lap 78 the pair had moved up to 2nd and 3rd. Within a couple laps, they closed in on Riggleman, in the battle for the win. At lap 85, Pasacca got to the inside of Riggleman, and was able to take over the lead. Correll followed him up to 2nd. During the extend green flag run, the field spread out around the track. On lap 89, Pasacca got caught up in lapped traffic, and ended up bringing out the yellow, handing the lead over to Correll. The final 11 laps were run under green, with Correll leading the way to the checkered. Riggleman finished 2nd, followed by Parker. With a handful of trucks on the lead lap, Pasacca was able to fight his way back up to finish 4th, and King rounding out the top 5.
In a battle of attrition, Paul Koehler Jr won his 8th Late Model feature of the year. Lap 8 saw a caution, when the 4th and 5th place cars of Mike Radocha Jr and Kevin Kromer got together A to the pits for the rest of the evening. Koehler Jr appeared to have things well in hand, and cruising to another victory. But Dan Ballentine Jr was working his way up through the field, and would make a serious bid for the win. At the line though, Koehler Jr held off Ballentine Jr by less than a car length. Rick Collins, Dean Kline Jr, and Tom Scales with his best finish of the year rounded out the top 5.
