Summer is in full swing and that means lots of hot racing at America's busiest little race track. Open-wheeled, pure stock, figure-8 or marathon ovals; whichever is your favorite racing it's at the Indianapolis Speedrome this weekend.
The action kicks off with the NAMARS Midgets and Kenyon Cars this Thursday evening. Southport's Adam Nuetzel holds a one point advantage over Crawfordsville's Sondi Eden and nine points over Indy's Sean Smith. Nuetzel's win in last week's 50-lap feature paved the way for the division's third points leader in as many weeks. The young lions of the Kenyon Car series roar again for fifty laps with Bryan Clauson, Jamie Williams, Jordan Noblitt and Speedrome Bandolero veteran Brent Beauchamp in the championship hunt. Spectators file in at 5:00 and the first race is at 7:00 for the Thursday Night Lightning series.
Friday evening sees the high-tech, high-speed All-Phase Landscaping Supermodifieds in action with Johnny Hargraves in charge of the championship chase. Kerry Wright leads the Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stocks in oval and Figure-8 action, the Speedrome Hornets and points leader Michael George are on tap for feature and heats. The Bomber Figure-8's return for their own special brand of Figure-8 excitement with Barry Tabor in control. The Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners see a full card of heats and features as a warm-up for Saturday's 100-Lap oval marathon. With the points chase on hiatus it's an all-skate for previous champs and others to join in the Roadrunner fun.
Saturday will be a night to remember that kicks off early with the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual autograph session on the track for racers and fans. Be sure to get in early for a special time with your favorite racers. The Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners go for 100 laps on the asphalt with only the best making the starting grid for the century challenge. Outlaw Stocks battle with a full oval program that'll be run in the clockwise direction around the track as part of the season's hardest test for the Red Line Graphics Late Models. A pair of 50-lap oval feature, one clockwise, one counter-clockwise followed by a 50-lap figure-8 that we call the Triple-8 night. R.J. Norton, Jr. leads the division but strong performance from Rodney Sizemore, Bobby Douthitt or several other racers could mix things up. Spectator gates open at 5:00 and you'll want to be in by 6:00 for the autograph session.
