The Chili Bowl has launched the careers of many fine midget drivers over the years as youngsters get their first laps indoors under the roof of the Tulsa Expo Center. Jesse Hockett will add his name to that list as he makes his midget debut in the Jackson #0h at the annual event January 8-11, 2002. The team will be using a Stealth Chassis and Scat engine power.

"I am very excited about my first midget start and to make it at the Chili Bowl makes it even more special," said Hockett. "Rick watched me race all summer at US36 Raceway and asked if I would like to run his midget. There are guys waiting in line for rides at the Chili Bowl, and I am glad I will have the opportunity to make some laps in there."

Although he has never raced a Midget, Hockett does have non-wing sprint experience as he surprised and impressed the west coast drivers on the Non-Wing World Championship tour by qualifying second at a Lakeside Speedway event.

The Warsaw, Missouri teenager, who will race 410s and 360s throughout the Midwest with Tom Vankeirsbilk's VKCC Racing Team in 2003, had a breakout year in 2002 as he had 410 feature wins at US36 Speedway in Osborn, Missouri and the Savannah Speedway in Savannah, Missouri, while winning in the 360 sprints at Double X Speedway in California, Missouri.
