TULSA, Okla. (December 28, 2004) -- The entry count for the upcoming 19th Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, to be held at Tulsa Expo Raceway January 5-8, continues to skyrocket, with the total reaching 255 with just over a week remaining until the Super Bowl of auto racing fires off next Wednesday night.
Among the latest to join the stoutest Chili Bowl field in history is Campbell, CA, shoe Bud Kaeding, who finished second in both USAC Silver Crown and Sprint Car points in 2004. Kaeding, a third place Chili Bowl finisher in 2000, takes over the mount originally slated to be driven by car owner Murray Erickson.
Kaeding joins a stout Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores Thursday night qualifying field that includes NASCAR stars Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne along with Tracy Hines, Scott Hatton, Josh Wise, Tyler Walker, Kraig Kinser, ASCS National champion Gary Wright, ARDC Midget champion Ray Bull, USAC Western States midget champion Johnny Rodriguez, Australian champion Adam Clarke and 2004 Chili Bowl standout Danny Stratton.
The record 255 entries represent 25 different states from coast to coast as well as Australia and New Zealand. California brings the largest contingent of entries, with 53 drivers from California already entered. Indiana is next with 42 entries, while Illinois has 32 entries. The home state of Oklahoma is next on the list with 20 entries, a record number of Chili Bowl entries for the Sooner State.
A limited number of tickets for Wednesday and Thursday night's qualifying action remain, with only pit passes available for Friday's qualifier and Saturday's finale. Four-night passes to the Pit Stop Caf0x00e9, affixed to the east end of the Tulsa Expo Center, are also available for $104.
