Saturday August 24th -- Flamboro Speedway -- Sutton West's Bob Crawford captured his second win of the season on the Castrol Can-Am Midget tour. Bob started on the pole but had to pass early race leader Todd Cresswell for the win. Bob held of the challenges of Adam Mackereth and Adam Walsh to take the win. Both of Crawford's wins this season have come at the Flamboro 1/3rd mile oval. With his 3rd place finish and the subsequent DNF of title challenger Jeff Riberdy, Walsh opens up a 180 point lead with 3 races remaining.

The green flag dropped on fan appreciation night at Flamboro Speedway with the 10 of Bob Crawford on the pole but it was Todd Cresswell starting from the outside of row 1 who took the lead into the first corner. Cresswell in the 3, held off Crawford for the first 2 circuits before the race was halted by a red flag. Exiting turn 2, the 12 of David Balych found himself without any racing room and had to breath the throttle. The slowing Balych was clipped from behind by the 1 of Colin Turnbull who slid down the backstretch before coming to a stop with a gentle roll on his wing. Balych also stopped in the middle of the backstretch facing the wrong way. Both cars were able to continue at the rear of the field after the red.

The field was back to green with Cresswell on the point. Crawford was on his bumper followed by the 40 of Andy Mackereth and the 74 of Ken Lorenz. Walsh in the 49 was also in the mix as well. As the laps ticked off, Crawford found his way past Cresswell taking Mackereth with him. Walsh was now up to third and putting the heat on Mackereth for second. The caution flew with 6 to go when Lorenz spun coming off of turn 2.

The 6 lap shootout to the finish saw Crawford take the win ahead of Mackereth, Walsh, Paul Smith in the 28 and Cresswell. Smith won the B Feature and did well to finish 4th after starting 13th in the main.

The TQ's are back at it this Sunday at Sunset Speedway in Stroud, Ontario.

Pit Notes

Curtis Friesan made his debut start for the Can-Am Club finishing 14th in the feature. Andy Mackereth had a good night claiming second place but also pulled to within 10 points of third place in the points standings held by Randy May. May failed to finish for the first time this season.
