ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series Sizzles in August

FLAGTOWN, N.J., July 2 - After its events at Lincoln (Pa.) Speedway this Saturday night; Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway on July 19; and Flemington (N.J.) Speedway on July 26, the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series faces another extremely busy month in August. Three point races are on the docket in August, as well as four special events.

The point shows in August are all on clay tracks. First it's off to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for a program on Saturday, Aug. 9. The ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series last appeared at the Port in 1994, when two shows were run there. They were won by John Heydenreich and Lou Cicconi Jr. Warm-ups start at 5:30 p.m.

An appearance at the big Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg, N.Y., is on the calendar for Saturday, Aug. 16. That show starts at 7 p.m. The pit gate is scheduled to open at 2 p.m., with warm-ups at 5:30 p.m.

The third of four races at Lincoln Speedway in New Oxford, Pa., on Saturday night, Aug. 23 is the next-to-last date to earn points for the series championship. Warm-ups begin at 7 p.m. The season finale will also be held at Lincoln on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The special events begin on Wednesday, Aug. 6 when the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series stars are honored during "Celebrity Night" at the Phoenix Quarter Midget Raceway in Phoenixville, Pa.

On Sunday, Aug. 17 ARDC will participate in the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing Exhibition at the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds in York Springs, Pa.

Then it's off to Oswego, N.Y., for a special race at the famed Oswego Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 30. Most of the top runners in ARDC are expected to compete in that program. Warm-ups start at noon.

The following day, Sunday, Aug. 31, is the day when drivers who have never won an ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series feature will shine at Flemington (N.J.) Speedway. That's the "First Feature" show, which is open only to drivers who fit that criteria. The pit gate opens at 11 a.m., with warm-ups at 1 p.m.
