The Krohn Racing with White Lightning Racing 2006 Le Mans 24 Hour campaign ended just before the mid-way point shortly after 4am local time when the car sustained damage after a heavy impact at the first Mulsanne chicane.

The car was not recoverable under its own power and so the team was forced to retire. Jorg Bergmeister was driving the penultimate lap of a double stint and had just set his fastest lap of the race when the incident occurred.

Jorg Bergmeister: "I was looking at the dash for fuel consumption and switching modes when I missed a braking point. It wasn't that I pushed too hard – I just made a mistake."

Up to that point the team had been performing well, and after a set-back with a broken shock absorber, was moving up the GT2 class rankings. Jorg's pace was impressive and consistent and he was making steady progress in gaining on the cars ahead. Nic and Tracy had completed two shifts with Jorg back in for his third spell in the car when the accident happened. Jorg has been checked over by team doctors and requires no further medical attention, his injuries being minor bruising.

Dale White, Team Manager "The team's worked really hard all week and Krohn Racing and White Lightning's been a great partnership. It's all gone very smoothly. All three guys have driven really well and with limited practice they've done a good job, especially the rookies – Nic and Tracy."
