Toyota continues to solidify their place as this year's favorite for Le Mans. In free practice earlier today, the No. 8 Toyota TS040 Hybrid put down the fastest lap time at a 2:23.652 with Anthony Davidson behind the wheel.
Rounding out the top three was the second Toyota, with Kazuki Nakajima laying down the fast time for the No. 7. The No. 1 Audi was able to post a time good enough for fourth with Tom Kristensen before their horrifying accident. The third Audi entry placed fifth in the session.
Porsche had a discouraging practice, finishing behind all of their main rivals in sixth and seventh. LMP2 was led by Oak Racing's Jann Mardenborough in the new Ligier JSP2 Coupe prototype. As for the GTE divisions, the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari held the quickest team in the professional class, with Nicki Thiim setting GTE Am pace in the No. 95 Aston Martin.
The Nissan ZEOD RC was unable to set a time due to gearbox issues. Following the Duval crash, the red flag was needed again, but this time for Erik Maris, who went off at the first chicane on the Mulsanne straight.
