Porsche is position for GT podium sweep as Le Mans reaches halfway.

ATLANTA -- June 15 -- With the California-based The Racers Group Porsche 911 GT3 RS of Kevin Buckler/Lucas Luhr/Timo Bernhard capturing the pole and leading the GT class for the first hour, and the Freisinger Porsche 911 GT3 RS of Sascha Maassen/Jorg Bergmeister/Romain Dumas leading for the next 11 hours, Porsches seem to be in command as the 24 Hours of Le Mans reaches its halfway mark.

Right now, Freisinger Porsche has two minute, 57-second lead over The Racers Group Porsche, with the Japanese Team Taisan Porsche 911 GT3 RS of Iida/Yogo/ishizawa continuing to battle with the Seikel Motorsport Porsche of Rosa/Drudi/Riccitelli for third place with less than 20 seconds separating the two.

The other American-based team, the Orbit Racing Porsche team from Florida, has moved back into fifth place after making up time from an earlier spin by Leo Hindery, who is sharing the driving chores with Peter Baron and Tony Kester. None of the Porsches in the top five have had any significant mechanical problems.

The Luc Alphant Aventures Porsche of Alphant/Lavieille/Thevenin is in sixth, and running well despite its four flat tires and some steering problems.

The PK Sport Porsche of Liddell/Warnock/Masarati, which ran as high as second position, has retired as a result of its engine overheating problem.
