The inaugural Premios Fox Sports show, honoring the achievements of Hispanic and Latin American athletes, will take place on December 17, 2003 in Miami and will honor athletes from a variety of sports including motor sports, tennis, soccer, baseball and golf.
While in Miami, Milka will participate in a photo shoot for Men's Fitness magazine that is scheduled to appear in their April, 2004 issue.
Roselyn Sanchez, Miss USA 2003 Susie Castillo, Miss Universe 1986 Barbara Palacios and others will join Milka as presenters. Joining the list of personalities scheduled to walk down the red carpet include such accomplished athletes as Esteban Loaiza, Ivan Rodriquez, Adrian Fernandez, Jose Saturino Cardoza, Juan Sebastian Veron and Gabriela Sabatini.
"I feel honored to have been invited to be part of such a worthy event," said Milka. "The achievements of Hispanic and Latin athletes deserve to be recognized and I congratulate Fox Sports for their efforts. Being a Latina athlete myself I know how much hard work and dedication it takes to succeed. As we are all very busy with our own careers it will be fantastic to have all of these athletes in the same place at the same time. I'm really looking forward to meeting these amazing people!"
The Premios Fox Sports awards show will be televised on Sunday, December 21 and will reach more than 17 million homes. Fox Sports en Espanol will televise the awards show nationally in the United States and Fox Sports Latin America will air it throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Men's Fitness magazine will conduct a photo shoot of Milka while in Miami. Men's Fitness is one of America's leading men's magazines - and when fitness counts, Men's Fitness is the source. Written for the sophisticated man who knows what he wants, the popular magazine is known for delivering the tools he needs to perform to his maximum potential.
"As a competitive racer I always need to study my competition, and as a woman I like to keep informed about what men 'are up to'," laughed Milka. "That's why I read Men's Fitness -- to keep an eye on what's going on! I'm very excited that they have chosen to include me in their magazine and I'm sure that the photo shoot will be a lot of fun!"
Milka just completed her 3rd year in the World Series by Nissan Series - Light Division, and was the only woman competing in the series this year. Last year Team Vergani gave her the opportunity to be the first woman in history to pilot the fastest car in the World Series -- the V6. Milka also regularly competes in the world's premier sportscar series -- the American Le Mans Series -- where she was the first woman in history to pilot the world's fastest sportscar -- the Le Mans Prototype 900. Milka is a regular competitor as well in the most famous sportscar race in the world -- the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.
Milka, Venezuela's 2000 "Driver of the Year", has secured the support of Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA). PDVSA is Venezuela's state-owned oil company and has proven reserves of 77.9 billion barrels of oil -- the most outside the Middle East -- and is one of the top exporters of oil to the United States. PDVSA's exploration and production take place in Venezuela, but the company also has refining and marketing operations in the Caribbean, Europe and the U.S. Milka is also thankful for the support of CANTV and MRW. CANTV is Venezuela's largest private company and since 1991 it has experienced a constant transformation into a very competitive company with very high quality levels in the supply of its products and services -- voice transmission, data, Internet, cellular telephony and information directories. MRW, based in Spain, and also doing business in Venezuela, was founded in 1977 and is Spain's leader in the urgent transport sector. MRW employs over 7,500 people in 675 franchises
