Withdrawal of the Matech Ford GT1 number 60 and 61

At 00:15 am, Thomas Mutsch came back to the stand after having had an encounter at the back of the car with an LMP2. Brought to a standstill for one hour and five minutes, Thomas left the steering wheel to Jonathan Hirschi who went back to the track at the same time as the Corvette C6.R which has also been brought to a standstill for long minutes.

The number 60 started off again being in third position with 2 laps behind Luc Alphand Aventures' Corvette. The Saleen S7R of Larbre Competition's team was leading with 10 laps ahead in front of the Matech Ford GT1 number 60. At 2:08 am, Jonathan left the steering wheel to Romain Grosjean who went on for a four hours' relay. One hour later, the first pit stop wasproceeding without any difficulty.

At 4:08 am, the last hope of the Team Matech Competition and its three drivers has ended up : during the last pit stop with Romain, the car did not start again. The verdict has been announced : the engine has broken up.

At 4:10 am, the withdrawal of the second Matech Ford GT1 was confirmed.

The team manager of Ford Matech Competition, Martin Bartek and the six drivers, Cyndie Allemann, Natacha Gachnang, Rahel Frey, Romain Grosjean, Jonathan Hirschi and Thomas Mutsch congratulated the work that has been done by the mechanics and their bravery. Actually, they very quickly intervened and with a lot of dexterity on both cars.

Matech Competition's team was disappointed by this double withdrawal, but left Le Mans having grown up and been enriched with more knowledge which would be applied for next race.
