Le Mans podium confirmed for Nissan’s GT academy winners
The No.42 Greaves Zytek Nissan officially takes third place in the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours LM P2 class.

News from the FIA International Court of Appeal yesterday proved bittersweet for Nissan. After taking third place at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, Nissan Partner Team, G-Drive Racing, was disqualified from the results for a breach of article 6.5.1 of the Technical Regulations. The team appealed against this decision but it was rejected and the team’s exclusion stands.
The G-Drive Racing No.26 squad fought hard for the Le Mans podium but the team has accepted the decision and is looking forward to the remainder of what looks set to be a thrilling FIA World Endurance Championship season. At the ‘6 Hours of Sao Paulo’ recently the No.26 crew got themselves back in the game by taking the LM P2 victory in masterful style.
This ruling means that the provisional results from Le Mans are now confirmed and that in turn means that the No.42 Greaves Zytek Nissan officially takes third place in the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours LM P2 class.
The No.42 was raced by two GT Academy winners, Lucas Ordonez and Jann Mardenborough, along with Nismo driver Michael Krumm. This is the second Le Mans podium finish for Ordonez and the first for Mardenborough, who won GT Academy in 2011 just two years before finishing on the podium at Le Mans.
“We were sorry to hear that G-Drive Racing lost their Le Mans podium,” said Darren Cox, Nissan’s Director of Global Motorsports. “They showed us all again what a great team they are in Brazil though so congratulations to them and here’s hoping they keep the momentum going into the next round this weekend at Austin.
“It is a bittersweet ruling though and I can’t help but feel very proud of Lucas, Jann and Michael for taking a podium finish at Le Mans. It proves again that Lucas’s Nissan GT Academy podium at Le Mans in 2011 wasn’t a fluke.”
