Latest picture on my screen saver 2012-07-10

Motorsport.com art director Eric Gilbert presents the photos that he actually uses as screen savers (and that he has actually shot, also). He presents those photos on his personal Facebook page and is now sharing them on Motorsport.com. Enjoy.

24 Hours of Le Mans, 2012-06-14. Super Trouper.

"Super trouper… Lights are gonna find me… Shining like the sun… Feeling like a number one…"

Well, maybe not quite. I didn't really have the Abba megahit in my mind when I figured this title, but more like the (also famous) brand of follow spotlights - those in the entertainment business or into performing arts will know what I'm talking about. This high density (sometimes blueish) spotlight that seems to be coming from heaven and follows whoever is the star or the show.

This is what I had in mind by looking at this photo. Like a natural Super Trouper coming from the sky above, the light was really hitting this precise area of the 'stage' (in this case, the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans), and hopefully making feel the star of this photo like a number one. Or should we say a number 0, as it was the car number sported by the Delta Wing. No wonder this shot turned out looking so dramatic, in a theatrical kind of way.

Oh, and it's the second time the Delta Wing is the subject of my "Latest picture on my screen saver" feature. Looks like I was fond of this car, after all: beautiful, in a dramatically different kind of way. Even theatrical. That car was definitely looking for a Super Trouper to beam upon itself.
