LE MANS, France (May 29, 2007) -- As the 2007 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance racing classic draws closer, British racing star Johnny Mowlem knows he has the tools at hand to score his first victory in the annual event.

The annual test day is scheduled for June 3 and the race will be held June 16-17.

Mowlem and co-drivers Jamie Melo and Mika Salo will pilot a Ferrari 430 GT in the GT2 class for the Risi Competizioni team. The last time the three men shared a racecar, they drove to victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring, the famed American race.

"The Risi team is very strong, as we proved at Sebring," Mowlem said. "I am really optimistic about our chances to win at Le Mans."

Because portions of the Le Mans circuit are used as public roads most of the year, the June 3 test date is the only chance for the teams to put their cars on the track prior to the week of the event.

Mowlem has raced a Ferrari 430 GT for the GPC team in two different European series since the win at Sebring. The GPC team sits second in the standings of the International GT Open series.

The Risi team leads the GT2 standings of the American Le Mans Series and Melo and Salo lead the driver standings.

"It's been a great year for Ferrari, all over the world," Mowlem said. "Hopefully we can add another victory. I've won the 24 hour race at Daytona and we've won at Sebring together. We have work to do during the test to be sure we have the car properly prepared, but the Risi team is well organized and very good at this."
