OAK Racing has confirmed the signing of Guillaume Moreau for the coming season. The 27-year-old Limoges-based driver will begin a third year with the team after a 2010 season which saw him celebrate four podium finishes in six races, including one at the Le Mans 24 Hours. In 2011, he will be at the wheel of the team's LMP1 Pescarolo and is already playing an active role in the car's development.
For several years, Moreau has dovetailed his success in two different motorsport disciplines, endurance racing and single-seaters, in the World Series by Renault. A GT1 Le Mans Series champion in 2008, he made his debut for OAK Racing at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2009 and has remained ever since, forming an established partnership with the team.
Francois Sicard, Managing Director, OAK Racing: "Guillaume has demonstrated his speed and reliability race after race in the LMP2 class and has integrated perfectly within the team. His role with us is much more than that of just a driver. It's an obvious decision for us to retain him for our LMP1 programme and utilise his talent to help us develop the car. In the recent Dunlop test in Portimao he undertook his duties with flying colours and we are delighted that he has finalised his contract very early, allowing us to prepare for 2011 in the best way possible. We are also assessing our level of involvement in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the Le Mans Series next year and are discussing potential co-drivers for Guillaume."
