GOODYEAR DOMINATES GTS CLASS IN LE MANS ENDURANCE CLASSIC
24 Hours of Le Mans: Goodyear continued its domination of the GTS class of world sports car racing, sweeping the first three finishing spots in that class in the soggy 2001 edition of the world's premiere endurance race.
Team Corvette finished first and second in the class and a Saleen S7R finished third. The same teams, all using Goodyear tires, filled the first three positions in the 12 Hours of Sebring.
The Corvette C5-R driven by Ron Fellows, Johnny O'Connell and Scott Pruett won the class and finished eighth overall. Teammates Andy Pilgrim, Kelly Collins and Franck Freon finished 14th overall. The Saleen driven by Terry Borcheller, Oliver Gavin and Franz Konrad finished 18th overall.
