CREATION AUTOSPORTIF - FURTHER PRE-LE MANS TESTING
After the freezing conditions in which the team tested at the French Magny Cours track in February, it was unseasonal heat and sunshine which greeted Creation for yesterday's test at Nevers.
Taking to the track alongside Pescarolo and the Oreca Audi teams, Creation drivers Nicolas Minassian and Jamie Campbell-Walter completed over 200 laps and both drivers were extremely upbeat about the entire day's running.
Campbell-Walter: "It was fantastic. Handling wise, we've rediscovered the car we had last year. We had a big programme of things to work through yesterday and completed it all as we had no real problems with either the car or the engine.
"We did some work with the diff which made a vast improvement, and we've now got the Michelin tyres working well with the car. As well as that, we tried a raft of other, smaller changes to the suspension set up which has given us a much better balanced car. Both Nic and I now have reason to believe we'll be very competitive at all our future races, with our immediate focus being on Le Mans, of course."
Team owner, Michael Jankowski, was delighted with the progress made by Team Director Ian Bickerton and Chief Engineer, Ian Smith. "We now have a very fast and, hopefully, a very reliable car to go to Le Mans with. Unusually, our drivers now say they have the perfect car for Le Mans so no excuses, eh! This wasn't necessarily our last test before Le Mans, but it was our last big one. We're exploring getting Andy Wallace involved before he drives the car at the official Test Day next month (5th June)."
