Le Mans Twelve-Hour Report: Faster Through The Night
GTS battle heats up as Corvette gains a position on Ferrari
LE MANS, France -- Halfway through the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the General Motors Chevrolet Corvette C5-R Racing team is currently running third and fifth in the GTS class and 14th and 16th overall. After both Corvettes experienced minor problems earlier in the race, the two cars are running trouble free and are enjoying the nighttime hours to post consistently good lap times. Andy Pilgrim and Johnny O'Connell drove two stints in a row in their #50 and #53 Corvettes.
Andy Pilgrim - #50 Corvette C5-R
"I had a pretty good double stint just then. Traffic is thinning out on the track and I was able to get a few good laps in. I feel that we're running maybe a bit better than our competitors through the fast corners on the circuit, and hopefully that will continue when the sun comes up."
Johnny O'Connell - #53 Corvette C5-R
"It's frustrating to have a few small problems like we had with a part of our alternator earlier, but hopefully all that stuff is behind us now. Every time I've gotten in the car tonight it's been better and better. They made a bar adjustment for me before my last double stint and it seemed to help."
