Circuit de la Sarthe
Good free practice and first qualifying session for Waltrip, Kauffman and Aguas in the #71 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia (LM GTE Pro class)
The free practice session of the Le Mans 24 Hours started today at 4pm and for the first time this week Michael Waltrip, Rob Kauffman and Rui Aguas drove the 13.629 km (8.469 mile) long Circuit de la Sarthe in the #71 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia. For Waltrip it was the first time ever to sit behind the wheel of the F458. During the Le Mans testday in May he raced the Ferrari 430.
Aguas started the afternoon session and set their fastest time of 4m03s047. During the afternoon all three drivers felt that the set up of the car was too stiff and uncomfortable so after the free practice session the set up was adjusted.
The Qualifying session started at 10 pm and again it was Aguas who set the fastest time in the dark: 4m08s213. Both Waltrip and Kauffman got more accustomed to driving the track in the dark and felt more and more comfortable both around the track and in the car.
First in the LM GTE Pro class is the #56 BMW with a time of 3m58s426 while Stephane Sarrazin in the Peugeot #8 set the overall fastest time: 3m27s033.
Tomorrows Qualifying sessions start at 7 pm till 9 pm and 10 pm till midnight.
