AF Corse will be protagonist of the “24 Hours of Le Mans” with four Ferrari 458 Italia GT2
LE MANS – AF Corse will be the only team representing Italian colors in the “24 Hours of Le Mans 2012”, the most famous endurance race of the world and event of the year. The 24 hours - third event of the FIA WEC - is scheduled for next June 16th and 17th but Sunday, June 3rd, there is the first step with the official test.
The Amato Ferrari team will be at the start of the 24 hours and test with four Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 shared between the two GTE category (Pro and Am).
On the AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #51 GTE Pro there will be Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander; the crew, at Le Mans in 2011, took the chequered flag in second position of the GTE Pro category. The Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #71 will be driven by Andrea Bertolini, Olivier Beretta and Marco Cioci. The trio won the last “12H of Sebring” (GTE Pro category, FIA WEC).
In the GTE Am category, on the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #81 there will be Piergiuseppe Perazzini, Niki Cadei and Matt Griffin. Robert Kauffman, Rui Aguas and Brian Vickers will race on the AF Waltrip Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #61. AF Waltrip is a joint effort by the AF Corse team and NASCAR’s Michael Waltrip Racing.
