The list of the 55 entrants invited
The 55 entrants invited to take part in the 78th le Mans 24 Hours have officially announced their driver line-ups. 165 drivers of 23 different nationalities, including 4 women drivers, will present themselves and their cars for scrutineering and admin checks on the Place des Jacobins in the town of Le Mans.
The 78th Le Mans 24-Hours race is already looking like being one of the greatest since the start of the event. The fourth round of the battle for victory between Peugeot and Audi with a total of 9 LM P1 prototypes, will reach its height before the introduction of the new regulations in 2011.
The Lola-Aston Martins, Lola-Judds, Lola-AER, Lola-Rebellions, Oreca-AIM and Ginetta-Zytek will also be involved in the battle in this mind-boggling race in which anything can happen.
This abundance of quality can only be good for the spectators, whose attention will be riveted on the scraps in every category in which prestigious makes will do battle. The host of talented drivers announced today will be part of the combats to come.
In LM P2, the fight between Lola, Ginetta-Zytek, HPD and Pescarolo will continue. WR and Norma will be competing in this category with new prototypes in the Le Mans 24 Hours.
In LM GT1, Luc Alphand Adventures' Corvettes will defend the factory's 2009 success against Aston Martin, the very competitive Ford GTs, a Saleen and a Lamborghini.
The GT2 battle is one of the most eagerly awaited. Corvette Racing will be up against works cars from Porsche, Ferrari and BMW on the Le Mans circuit for the first time. BMW is making its comeback to the Le Mans 24 Hours with a car that has just won a 24-Hour event (the Nurburgring). Another prestigious name making a comeback is Jaguar, which has contributed so much to the Le Mans 24-Hours legend. Like Aston Martin and Spyker it will be represented by a single car.
All these elements make the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours: an event not to be missed at any price.
