The planned 2005 "Le Mans" Calendar of Sporting Events

"24 HEURES DU MANS" :
Preliminary Practice Sessions on Sunday 5th June ;
73rd edition on 18th and 19th June

With the unveiling of the 2005 calendar of sporting events on the Le Mans Circuits, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest is making official the adoption of a new set-up concerning the "24 Heures du Mans", by moving the dates of the preliminary practice sessions nearer to the race itself.

Whereas before, this practice day took place at the end of April, or if not then, at the beginning of May, in 2005, it will take place on Sunday 5th June, with the 73rd edition of the "24 Heures du Mans" being down for Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June. It is basically for two reasons that the calendar has been reorganised : firstly, in order to take the strain off competitors who are faced with high costs -- notably, for those who come from faraway countries, this new organisation will save them having to make two journeys to the Sarthe with just some six weeks between each one. And secondly, this new structure will provide more flexibility in the planning of the endurance races in April and May, in particular with regard to the American Le Mans series.

The other Major Events:

March: Open Vitesse Moto 19th and 20th.

April: "24 Heures Moto" 16th and 17th

May: "Grand Prix de France Moto" 14th and 15th.

June: Preliminaries "24 Heures du Mans" Sunday 5th , the race 18th and 19th.

July: "LM Story" 9th and 10th, "Coupes Promosport Moto" and "Course de Côte du circuit Bugatti" 23rd and 24th.

September: Endurance 50cm3 moto 10th and 11th ( Maison Blanche), and Super Serie F.F.S.A. 24th and 25th

October: Inter-Ecuries 8th and 9th, "24 Heures Camions" 22nd and 23rd.
