Whittier, CA (June 25, 2010) - Merely two weeks after graduating from eighth grade with honors, Raquel Martinez will be making her European karting debut at the worlds largest stage in the WSK World Series. The opening round of the series is being held at the brand new Autodromo do Algrave where the WTCC will be racing on the main circuit.
Raquel will be competing in the ultra competitive KF3 category where she has seen a lot of success in the WSK North American series. Raquel will be competing with the Factory Top Kart team aboard a IAME powered Top Kart Speedy. Currently Raquel is leading points and is fresh off sweeping the weekend at the last round of the series in Phoenix Arizona. The 14 year- old driver from Whittier, CA will be accompanied by her tuner Chris Wehrheim who has European experience and will help her get up to speed quickly.
"I am very excited to be racing in Europe and am looking forward to having to step up my game against the best in the world," commented Martinez. "This is a great opportunity for me to grow as a driver and I know it will be very tough, but I am looking forward to the challenge."
After Portugal Raquel will be taking a break from WKA action to prepare for the Rotax Grand Nationals at New Castle Motorsports Park.
