MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA - (March 1, 2009) - Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar Introduces Revised Competition Regulations for the 2009 Competition Year

The Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar posted its 2009 Competition Regulations today, introducing enahancements for the Competitors.

Perhaps one of the most predominant changes for 2009, the Snap-on Stars of Karting has changed its event format from a Final 1 and Final 2 schedule to a Pre-Final and Final arrangement each Event. However, new for 2009, Drivers will start the Final in the position they were classified in from the results of the Pre-Final.

"After careful thought and consideration, we felt drivers should be rewarded for their performance leading up to each Event Final," commented Competition Director Kevin Williams, "and for this performance, we are also awarding points for Drivers achievements from the Pre-Final to contribute to their point total. Also, we are excited to provide bonus points for drivers that qualify first in their category."

Drivers will be allowed one drop from their participation in the series for 2009, and the Race of the Americas in New Castle, Indiana will be offered as a Double-Points Event. "With progressive participation, drivers will be allowed to drop the results from one Event Final this year," continued Williams. "However, for the mid-season `East meets West' rivalry in New Castle, double divisional combined will reward Drivers with double points for this combined event."

In addition to these and other enhancements for 2009, Stars of Karting has introduced optional Thursday practice for the first time this year. "We wanted competitors to feel as if they were not forced to travel to one of our event facilities for testing weeks before our events just to be competitive." says series President Alan Rudolph. "By providing Thursday practice prior to an event we are allowing our customers to get some track time without scheduling an extra trip to the track."

Series CEO Paul Zalud had this to add: "With a well-thought out season, 2009 promises to be very competitive, and professional strategies will play a major role in the year-end Championships. This should be a very exciting year."
