Preston Peltier celebrates his 25th birthday with an impressive victory at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.
Lexington OH, Preston Peltier and the CKT race team mastered the Mid Ohio Road Course with an impressive 9 second victory over Chad Donner in Saturdays WKA sprint 125. Peltier launched his CKT Honda powered Allkart from the pole position sliding back to third at the drop of the green. He regained the top spot on the second lap of the 2.5 mile circuit just as the red flag was displayed for an incident in the carousel. The race was restarted with Peltier leading flag to flag unchallenged by the 22 kart field, giving him his 7th win of the season.
Sundays WKA Sprint 2 looked to be a sweep of the weekends festivities for CKT. Peltier rocketed off the line to a 15 second lead by the 10 minute mark only to have it slip away when the ignition cut off just as he was accelerating down the front stretch. Peltier jumped from his kart and hoisted it on to the wall with the help of Jim Perry and Ted Tackett as another person grabbed a kart stand. They quickly set the kart on the stand and refired the machine. Once again Peltier was back underway charging up from the back of the pack. Peltier clicked off some impressive laps to within .10 of a second of the track record. Unfortunately, he ran out of time and came up short finishing in the 4th position.
The weekend was a success for CKT. With the win on Saturday, Peltier extended his points lead by 5 valuable points over his teammate Corey Clayton. To add to the successful weekend, Peltier has been nominated for ROAD RACER OF THE YEAR by Shifter Kart Illustrated. Peltier is backed by CKT Racing Engines (Jim Perry), Azzurro Wheels, MG tires, Allkart, and K&N Air Filters.
