07.16.2009 -- The Summer Nationals at Liberty (N.C.) Raceway Park for the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series is fast approaching. The third round of the five-race 2009 tour, slated to go off July 24-26, will again include the special Saturday night Money Race for Briggs Animal Heavy racers. The winner's share of the Money Race purse at Liberty will remain a generous $1,700 now that Tim Fishel Motorsports has joined Briggs & Stratton Racing, Firestone and Ultramax Racing Chassis as a sponsor for the big event.
Tim Fishel Motorsports, based in Advance, N.C., provides customers with dyno-tested, top-notch 4-cycle engines that produce the most horsepower possible. The outfit, boasting nearly 20 years experience in the sport, also offers a variety of products, including Full Throttle carburetors for Briggs Animal and flathead engines and Animal and flathead headers. Tim Fishel Motorsports is now an authorized dealer of Ultramax chassis, and interested parties can visit their Web site at www.fishelmotorsports.com for more information.
As noted, the winner of Saturday night's Money Race will pocket a cool $1,700 with second place receiving $400, third $300 and fourth $100. Like the Grand Nationals last month at Georgia's Dexter Raceway, $500 bonuses from Firestone Tires and TS Racing / Vega Tires will be up for grabs. Firestone offers the extra cash for the highest finishing driver on Firestone rubber, while Vega's bonus is good only if the winner is running Vega tires. At Dexter, Money Race winner Chris Thompson pocketed a cool $2,200 for winning the 30 lapper while sporting Vega rubber on his Phantom chassis. Todd Reece garnered the $500 Firestone bonus.
But Saturday night isn't the only time Speedway Dirt racers will be able to win some cash. Sunday will feature the "Sunday-7," which is seven classes that pay the top-three finishers $300 to win, $150 for second and $75 for third. The Sunday-7 comprises the following divisions: Briggs Sportsman 1 Heavy, Briggs Sportsman 2 Heavy, Briggs Jr Heavy, Briggs Medium, Briggs Super Heavy, Briggs Jr Champ Heavy and Briggs Champ Heavy.
Four Brute by Briggs & Stratton 2500-psi pressure washers and one Briggs generator will again be randomly drawn for in Saturday morning's drivers meeting.
Liberty's Summer Nationals is also supported by G-Man Kartworks, which sponsors the Pole Awards; TS Racing, which will award $50 TS Racing gift certificates to any winner running Vega Tires; and of course the aforementioned series sponsor Briggs & Stratton; Firestone; Ultramax and now Tim Fishel Motorsports.
These fine sponsors and WKA are looking for a big turnout at Liberty. Mark it on your calendar and try your best to get to the terrific central North Carolina facility July 24-26 for another huge WKA Speedway Dirt National.
