Long Awaited First Dirt National This Weekend At Margarettsville

04.22.2009 - It's been a long time since September of 2008, the last dirt national for the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series. But following a long winter, as well as a rainout in March in South Carolina for the season opener, the Briggs and Stratton Speedway Dirt Series comes to life this weekend at the Margarettsville Speedway in North Carolina for the Bordeaux Dyno Cams Nationals. And in a big way.

Several positive off-season tech announcements involving rods, valves, and tires, combined with a tremendous influx of money classes has breathed new life into a notoriously successful program. This weekend it will all unfold at one of the crown jewels for dirt track racing, Bud and Brenda Byrum's Margarettsville speed plant.

With the elimination of Friday practice for the series, competitors will begin arriving Friday afternoon and evening in preparation for a busy day of action on Saturday. Twenty-three (23) national points classes will begin their assault on the 2009 crown, while an added bonus at the end of the day will afford drivers in the Briggs Animal Heavy class a shot at potentially $2,200 to win in the Money Race that evening. While the winner's share is currently set at $1,700 to win, the total could be increased, as Firestone, already a contributor to the purse, has laid out a $500 bonus to the highest finishing driver that is sporting Firestone YJF Tires on the right side. Second in the event will receive $400, with $300 going to third, and $100 for fourth.

Additionally, seven (7) national points classes will be running for $300 to win, with second paying $150, and $75 going to the third place finisher. Those classes are:

Briggs Sportsman 1 Heavy
Briggs Sportsman 2 Heavy
Briggs Junior Heavy
Briggs Medium
Briggs Super Heavy
Briggs Junior Champ Heavy
Briggs Champ Heavy

Adding two (2) Local Option Flathead classes on Sunday in Briggs Medium and Heavy, and this weekend's event promises to knock the walls down with excitement!!!
